The Kingdom of Serbia in the late nineteenth century issued several editions of gold coins with the nominal value of 10 and 20 dinars. At the time who ever belonged to Latin Monetary Union had to forge gold coins with exactly specified measures, which was applied to Serbia too.
First edition of the coin with value of 20 dinars appeared in 1879, and second in 1882.
On the front side of the edition is a figure of the Serbian King Obrenovic facing right. On the first edition there is an inscription written in Cyrillic: "MILAN M. OBRENOVIC IV. KNJAZ SRPSKI", although the inscription changed and got simplified on the second edition (also written in Cyrillic):"MILAN I KRALJ SRBIJE".
On the back side of the coin is the wreath with the royal crown on top, also there is a printing on Cyrillic letters 20 Dinara, underneath it all the year of that edition is stamped. On the edge of the coint the text is written, also in Cyrillic "BOG CUVA SRBIJU".
Coin of 10 dinars weights 3, 22 grams. In diameter it has 18 mm. Coin of 20 dinars weights 6, 45 grams, and in diameter it has 21, 5 mm. Both of the coins are fineness 900.
