Golden coin “American eagle”

On the front side of the coins there is a girl who symbolizes freedom, whose shape is inspired by the golden coin of 20 dollars, which were forged between 1907 and 1933.

Modern coins have a text “LIBERTY” at the top and the year of publication.

On the back side of the golden coin there is an eagle that carries an olive branch to its own nest. Above the eagle there is an inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, in the middle the two slogans are imprinted which is famous for American money: “E Pliribus Unum” and “IN GOD WE TRUST”. In bottom part, under the eagle there is information on the nominal value and the amount of gold: “1 OZ FINE GOLD – 50 DOLLARS”.

Except in nominal value of 50 dollars, the amount of 1 ounce of gold, the golden coin “American Eagle” is produced in nominal’s of 5 dollars (one tenth of an ounce), 10 dollars (one-quarter ounces) and 25 dollars (one half of ounce).
The year of publication on the golden coins in the period between 1986 and 1991 is written in Roman numerals, after which they started printing the year in Arabic numerals.

Golden coin of one ounce is made of alloy consisting of 91.67 percent of gold, 3 percent silver and 5,33 percent copper.
In diameter it is 32.7 mm wide, thickness is 2,87 mm, and the total weight is 33,93 grams.
