It belongs to the firmest metals against chemical reactions and that is why it is called noble metal. Nor the acid nor base has any effect on him.
Purity of gold is measured in carats. Pure gold has 24 carats. Since gold is always alloyed with another metals due to how soft it is (silver, platinum, palladium, copper), gold content varies.
Our jewelry is usually made as 14 carat with the tag 585, which means that it contains 58,5% of pure gold, and the rest are other alloys. We produce jewelry of 8,10,12 and 18 carat too. If carat is larger, the fineness is better, better quality, but also softer, so the 22 carat gold is rarely used for jewelry and mainly used for golden ducats. According to the concept of gold, and also by certain alloys, we distinguish colors of gold that can be: yellow, red and white.
