French gold coin of 20 francs with the portrait of Napoleon III, President of France during the period of its Second Republic, were minted from 1852 to 1870 in millions of copys, which is why it can still be seen in numismatic collections around the world.
In addition to coins of 20 francs, this golden coin was minted in denominations of 50 and 100 francs. The coin of 20 francs on the front side has the portrait of Louis – Napoleon Bonaparte looking right, with the text inscribing NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR which goes around the image of the French emperor.
Release from 1852 contains a different text around the head of Napoleon Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. At the bottom of those coins the name is engraved of the author of coins: Barre.
Back of the coin is very simple. Within the laurel wreath there is a text which marks the value of the coin (20 FRANCS) underneath it is a year of publication. At the bottom there is a mark of an issue (usually letter A). Around the wreath there is a text inscribed EMPIRE FRANCAIS (on the edition from 1852 it is written REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE).
Weight of ducats is 6,45 grams, in diameter it is 21 mm, and its thickness is 1.25 mm. It contains 90 percent, in other words 5,8 grams or 0,1867 ounces of pure gold.
