Canadian gold coins – Maple Leaf began to be produced in 1979 in the Royal Canadian Mint (Monnaie Royale Canadienne).

On the front side of the coin is the character of Queen Elizabeth II, under which is the nominal value specified (50 dollars on the coin of one ounce) and a year of publication. Above the character there is an inscription ELIZABETH II.
On the back there is an maple leaf, the national symbol of Canada. Around the central motive the text is printed “CANADA” and “FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR”.
