Austrian gold coin produced in the Austrian Mint "Muenze Osterreich" out of pure gold. The first edition on the market appeared in 1989 and since then there is new edition every year. The design of the coins is dedicated to the world famous Austrian Symphony Orchestra. Therefore, on the front side there is an image of symphonic instruments, above which is written "WIENER PHILHARMONIKER".
On the other side, there is a relief of large pipe organ in a concert hall "MUSLIKVEREIN" in Vienna, in which his performances has Vienna Philharmonic. Above the relief there is a text inscribed REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, and underneath it is written the amount of gold in ounces (31,1035 grams) which the coin contain.
With text "1 UNZE GOLD 999,9" it is said that the coin weights 1 ounce. On the coin of half ounce (15, 5517 grams it is written "1/2 UNZE GOLD 999,99". On the 1/4 of an ounce (7, 7758 grams) it is written "1/4 UNZE GOLD 999,9". And the last one in series is a golden coin which contains 1/10 ounces of gold (3, 1103 grams) which has a text printed "1/10 UNZE GOLD 999, 9".
This coin of one ounce has a diameter of 37 mm and a thickness of 2 mm, 1/2 of ounce has a diameter of 28 mm and a thickness of 1,6 mm, 1/4 of ounce has a diameter of 22 mm and thickness of 1,2 mm and 1/10 ounces has diameter of 16 mm and a thickness of 1,2 mm. These measures can vary from coin to coin.
